Biography

Jin-Young is currently the second violinist of the Melos String Quartet.

She was the associate concertmaster for the University of Toronto Symphony Orchestra during the 2020/21 season. In the past Jin-Young was the associate concertmaster of the London Youth Symphony (2017-2018) and the concertmaster of the London Central Orchestra (2015-2018). She was also the concertmaster for the London Grand Theatre Production of the musical Evita (2017) alongside many great musicians. 

Along with her orchestral experience, Jin-Young has also won competitions such as the London Community Orchestra Youth Concerto Competition, and the London Central Concerto Competition, and performed solos with the orchestras. She has also won numerous awards at annual London Kiwanis Music Festivals. She has also been featured as a guest artist on the Drayton Festival Theatre production of the Fiddler on the Loose. Jin-Young has received many awards from the London Central Secondary School and the University of Toronto for her outstanding musical abilities.

 In recent years, Jin-Young has attended Orford Musique, Domaine Forget, and Scotia Festival of Music, and has had lessons and masterclasses with Scott St.John, Mark Kaplan, Jonathan Crow, Andrew Wan, Akemi Mercer-Niewöhner, Simon Blendis, Harumi Rhodes, Conrad Chow, Yehonatan Berick, Erika Raum, David Gilham, Christopher Whitely, Marie Berard, and Airi Yoshioko to name a few.

As a chamber musician, Jin-Young has performed for members of the Emerson String Quartet, Takács Quartet, Rolston String Quartet, St. Lawrence String Quartet, Calidore String Quartet, Quatuor Diotima, New Orford String Quartet, and Thalea String Quartet.

Jin-Young currently plays on a 2013 Shan Jiang violin.
